College Scholarship

The Issue

Minority students from low-income families do not have equal access to a college education.

Our Impact

Since 1991, GECAC has helped open doors for students from low-income families by providing scholarships for those who need them most.

Overview

The mission of the R. Benjamin Wiley / Walter L. Osborne Minority Scholarship is to encourage and enable ethnic minority students to go to college and realize the impact they can have on themselves and the community through education.

The scholarship amount to be awarded is $1,000 per year for 4 years that a student is enrolled full-time at a college or university.  The scholarship will be paid directly to the awardee.

To apply for the R. Benjamin Wiley / Walter L. Osborne Minority Scholarship, the student must meet the following guidelines.

  1. Be an ethnic minority student who is a resident of Erie County Pennsylvania.
  2. Be a current high school senior accepted to a 2 or 4-year college or university full-time.
  3. The high school senior must currently have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA or have scored at least a 22 on the ACT or 1020 on the SAT.
  4. Be willing to complete an interview with the scholarship committee.
  5. The family income is within 200% of federal poverty guidelines

All completed applications must be postmarked by May 2, 2023.

Money for the scholarships is raised through the GECAC Golf Classic. Great golf for a great cause!
