When you are a GECAC Meals on Wheels volunteer, you are delivering much more than a hot meal - you are providing a human connection. A typical volunteer route takes about one hour to complete. This one hour affects the lives of so many of our neighbors in need throughout Erie County. For many of our homebound neighbors, you will be the only person they will see or speak with all day. This special delivery gives them a reason to get up in the morning, something to look forward to, and a reminder to take care of themselves.
Thank you for opening your heart and showing interest in joining the Meals on Wheels team. As a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you will affect so many lives, including your own.
Four steps need to be completed to become a volunteer at GECAC Meals on Wheels.
1. Complete Volunteer Application
Before completing the first step, have the volunteer opportunity and delivery location decided. You can access more information below.
2. Read & Agree To The Insurance Waiver
To ensure the safety of our team, all volunteers must sign an insurance waiver.
3. Provide A Background Check
To ensure the safety of our clients, all volunteers must complete a background check. All information is secure and not shared outside of our organization.
4. Training
Once you have completed the three steps, a representative from GECAC Meals on Wheels will contact you.
GECAC Meals on Wheels has distribution centers throughout the county.
