Caseworker, Adult Protective Services

Protective Services Caseworkers' duties may include: taking reports for crisis intervention; providing direct services to clients who are at risk or in an emergency situation; periodically reassessing care plans; providing general counseling; and making referrals.  Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work/social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or other of the behavioral sciences; and 1-2 years of aging casework experience; with crisis services or law enforcement experience preferred.  Experience in investigation resolution of problems in a crisis situation for resolution.

 

Provides advanced professional work investigating reports of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and/or abandonment.  Develops service and care plans to manage direct services to clients who are in emergency or potential hazardous situations.  Must be able to gather and analyze information on physical, psychological, and social factors contributing to client's crisis situation and identify appropriate methods for the resolution of the situation.  The OAPS work is performed in accordance with established procedures and regulations.  Sets priorities and organizes work which is done under a supervisor who also provides regular (weekly) technical assistance.  Provides daily to weekly contact with clients requiring a higher level of expertise and supervision.

 

Good outreach skills and knowledge of community resources and funding source regulations needed. Ability to speak or read languages other than English, especially Spanish or Russian, is desirable. Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Microsoft Teams. The ability to operate a computer in a Windows environment is essential. Familiarity with Zoom, PDF editing software, as well as experience effectively working remotely are desired. Must have enough knowledge to successfully complete the technical skills of the position. Must be able to transport, operate, protect and carry laptop computer while performing on-call duties.

Must be able to travel.  Must have a valid PA driver's License with full-time access to private automobile and auto insurance as required by the Agency.  Must meet Immigration Law requirements. Must provide Act 33 & 34 and FBI Clearances issued within the past 5 years prior to hire.

 

Budgeted at $22.98 per hour or higher, depending on prior experience, with excellent benefit package.
