College! Erie
GO
College! Erie
is part of a national initiative to provide students with the
necessary tools to prepare for and succeed in college. It is an
initiative of the Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization, the
Council for Opportunity in Education (COE), and funded with a
five-year grant from the GE Foundation and the U.S. Department of
Education. Erie is just one of two cities nationwide chosen for this
program. The second is Louisville, KY.
GECAC
is a part of the local GO College partnership with two College Coaches
at East High School.
Gannon
University and the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) have
two College Coaches each working at Strong Vincent High School and
Central Career and Technical School respectively. Up to 60 ninth-grade
students are served in each school, plus students at the other grade
levels who were a part of the earlier College Access program.
In
addition, the program sponsors a two-week residential summer program
for incoming freshmen enrolling at the three high schools.
