The
Area Agency on Aging (AAA), provides for the needs and well-being of the
elderly consumer. A small co-payment is required for some
services. These services, provided through the mandate of the Older
American's Act, are designed to respond to those seniors:
- Remaining active
and involved in their community
- Being cared for in
their homes where they are comfortable and secure.
- Requiring placement
services
- Requiring
protection and advocacy
Information
and Referral Services serves as an entry point for AAA
Services. When a referral is made, a caseworker assesses a
consumer for eligibility for Long Term Care Placement Services, AAA
Options Services, AAA Long Term Care Waiver Services or refers the
consumer to appropriate community resources. AAA options are
listed below.

opportunities for persons, 55 years and older, matching personal

Meals
on Wheels |
| |
|

|
What is Meals on
Wheels?
Homebound consumers, who
are unable to prepare meals for themselves, receive a daily
nutritional meal through the Meals on Wheels/Home Delivered Meals
Program. On a daily
basis, community volunteers of the Metro Meals Program and the GECAC
Home Delivered Meal
Program deliver meals provided by the GECAC Food Service program.
This valuable program not only meets the consumer’s
nutritional need, but also insures that elderly consumers have daily
contact by a caring volunteer. Individuals
who would like to volunteer to deliver meals can contact Beth
Wilkinson at bwilkinson@gecac.org
