Financial Education and Counseling is designed to help prospective homeowners learn the benefits and value of saving toward a goal of home purchase.
Money Works for You is designed to meet the state priority of ‘Financial literacy training, including training in the economics of home repair and renovation.’ GECAC has been working in cooperation with United Way of Erie County to:
- increase the financial literacy of low-income working families
- increase the number of low-income working families who have a banking relationship
- improve the financial condition of low-income working families
- improve the knowledge base and skill level of agency staff that work with low-income working families
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $48,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
