The GECAC Community Charter School, chartered
in 1997, serves educationally “at risk” children attending
kindergarten through grade 8. The
school’s mission is to instill the twin attributes of responsibility
and discipline in our students so they may succeed in their future
endeavors and compete academically with students from any school in
the country.
The Greater Erie
Community Action Committee along with other founders within the
community sponsored the charter school and continues to provide
support to maintain the success of the school and its students.
Active
Board of Directors
Committed board members not
only serve on board, but also work on committees, volunteer in
classrooms, recruit community support, provide financial support to
the school, share their talents at all levels of program planning and
implementation.
Parent Message
The Parent Group is actively
involved in their children's education. The Group assists the
school in policy making, fund raising, and scheduling school functions
and trips for students. Additionally, the parents are often
volunteering in the classrooms, helping students learn. Future
goals for the Parent Group include having all grades involved in
community events on a regular basis and having the 8th grade students
participate in some activity or trip each year.
All Charter School
parents are encouraged to attend the Parent Group meetings.
These occur on the third Thursday of each month at the Charter School.
