Human Resources

The Human Resources department supports administrative and personnel functions for GECAC and the Community Charter School.  Staff are responsible for reviewing resumes for potential new hires; informing staff of changes in policies and procedures;  notifying the public of job openings and maintaining employee records.

Finance & Accounting

Finance and accounting staff are involved with the day to day fiscal operations of the Agency.  They handle budgetary spending, purchase requisitions, inventory management, and update balance sheets and ledgers in accordance with general accounting principles.

GECAC also maintains Financial Services which include computerized bookkeeping and reporting to other private or public non-profit agencies.

Management Information Systems

GECAC MIS staff work closely with executive and administrative staff to provide networking, technical and end-user support to employees in the Agency.  MIS also makes recommendations on the purchase of technology equipment and occasionally provides reports on the feasibility of new technological undertakings.

Planning Department

The Planning Department develops the community needs assessment from which agency priorities, goals and objectives are developed.  Planning Department reviews the Federal Registers, PA Bulletins and other documents to keep agency abreast of grant opportunities and regulations.  Planning is responsible for the development and coordination of grant documents. Additionally, this department assists in the evaluation of services including monthly reviews of goals and objectives. Planning provides technical assistance to agency program operators and community agencies as needed to insure quality and coordination. Planning also coordinates the Agency volunteer programs including internship program and program-based volunteers.

Special Projects:

Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program

GECAC is an approved agency under the state funded Education Improvement Tax Credit Program.  This Program awards tax credits to businesses that make contributions to support two special initiatives:  Decisions for Life and Scholarship Organization.

The Decisions for Life Initiative is a career exploration program based at the GECAC Community Charter School.  The program offers seventh and eighth grade students an opportunity to job shadow various professions.  Students complete a videotape of the job shadowing experience and develop a web-based library of these experiences for use by other students.

The Scholarship Organization Initiative provides tuition eligible Erie County students to attend a public or non-public kindergarten, elementary or secondary school.  Local businesses, including PNC Bank, PNC Financial Services, First National Bank, Contemporary Motorcar, Northwest Savings Bank and Waste Management, collectively donated $114,211 to support these two initiatives.

For more information, or to make a contribution please contact Linda Madara 459-4581 (ext. 402).
